The Melissa Institute for Violence Prevention and Treatment is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to prevent violence and promote safer communities through education and application of research-based
knowledge. The Institute was established to honor the memory of Melissa Aptman, who was murdered on
May 5, 1995. Our goal is to reduce the incidence of violence. Our hope is for peace.
Beautiful live music will caress your ears as soft breezes whisper around you. Come wine and dine with
friends old and new. It’s a gathering that promotes harmony — the kind you hear and the kind you feel.
Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden at night is a magical place. Take a special tram ride through the garden
in the moonlight as you view sculpture by internationally renowned artists. It promises to be a peaceful,
memorable evening that will linger with you long after the moonlight has faded.
