The Melissa Institute for Violence Prevention and Treatment was established in 1996 to honor the memory of Melissa Aptman, murdered on May 5, 1995, at the age of 22, two weeks before her college graduation. Since its inception, the Institute has been at the forefront in the use of science for the prevention and treatment of violence. Our trainings, resources and interventions are designed to prevent violence, build resilience and promote peace and safety in our communities.
Soothing sounds for the human heart that enlighten the spirit will await you at a special private concert with Latin Grammy Award-winning flutist Nestor Torres.
