For 28 years, Dr. Donald Meichenbaum has served as the Research Director of The Melissa Institute, steering its educational and training initiatives across South Florida, the nation, and the globe. Over the past several years, the Institute’s shift to virtual platforms has allowed Don to extend the Institute's reach to mental health professionals and educators globally with lectures and courses on cognitive behavior therapy, trauma, resilience, and violence prevention. Furthermore, Dr. Meichenbaum has made his book, "Roadmap to Resilience," accessible for FREE, resulting in over 48,000 downloads from individuals in 138 countries.

In recent years, Dr. Meichenbaum’s training initiatives have spanned across Australia, Canada, China, England, Romania, and the U.S., leading to the creation of a "Legacy Course" dedicated to his extensive work in psychotherapy, resilience, and violence prevention. The primary aim of this program is to increase the likelihood that participants will further develop their level of expertise and become part of an elite “group of 25% of psychotherapists” who get better outcomes with their patients. The other goal is to challenge participants to consider the trans-theoretical behavior change principles that are common across various psychotherapeutic approaches and how to implement the Core Tasks of Psychotherapy. Along the way, they will learn how to spot hype in the field of psychotherapy and become a more critical consumer of psychotherapies and information in the field as a whole.

Dr. Meichenbaum has graciously arranged for all proceeds from his Legacy course to be donated to the Melissa Institute in memory of his wife of 58 years, Marianne Meichenbaum.
