The Scientific Board of The Melissa Institute has provided consultation to many agencies and organizations since its inception in 1996.The Institute has consulted and collaborated with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools on bullying prevention, anger management, literacy, stress reduction, school violence prevention, positive discipline and an array of topics requested by teachers and administrators. The Melissa Institute’s Scientific Board members have expertise in providing consultative services to programs and professionals. One of the goals is to raise awareness on the importance of projects building in an evaluation component. In this way, a realistic assessment of the success of each endeavor can be documented. Ineffective programs or those that could cause harm do not merit funding. Community leaders, school personnel and public service agencies can focus on selecting projects that have the highest probability of success.
